Please note, The Imperial has now closed. Time Out Food editors, MARCH 2020.
A recently refurbished bar and dining room on the King's Road. The Victorian building has been given an attractive new lick of paint, with the bar area - accommodating drinkers and diners throughout the day - a separate entity to the 50-cover restaurant next door. There's a spacious garden outside, too.
The bar offers cocktails, continental lagers a varied wine list and craft beers - including the venue's own brew, Imperial Ale. Food can be ordered from the kitchen but there's a deli, too, with salads, sandwiches and snacks to take away.
The restaurant menu ranges from steamed mussels, seared scallops and steak burgers in brioche buns to a loin of venison served with caramelised carrot, charred red onion, truffle creamed potato and a red wine jus. Sunday roasts prove popular, too.
