Please note, the Archgate is now closed. Time Out Food & Drink Editors, May 2017.
This Archway favourite serves hangover-curing brunch fare, salads, sandwiches and burgers, and decent mezedes and kebabs testify to its Turkish heart. A narrow seating area spans the length of a service counter packed with desserts (including traditional rice pudding) before opening up to reveal a slightly more spacious area at the back.
Our lunchtime visit found the place peppered with office workers and OAPs tucking into wraps, salads and chips to a background of Smooth FM and friendly waitress banter. Evenings see the atmosphere factor upped a notch with groups of friends devouring well-executed grills and Mediterranean specials.
Not a destination venue by any stretch of the imagination, but a local restaurant to be proud of.
