It'd be tricky to beat the location of this fancy all-day dining room - it's right on Regent Street, in the five-star and pretty historic Café Royal hotel. Despite the swanky setting it's an informal spot, with chef de cuisine Armand Sablon putting together a modern-European menu not afraid to nip to more exotic culinary climes.
Expect, then, dishes such as Dover sole meuniere, a grilled veal cutlet caponata and Scottish scallops with artichokes and spiced mussels alongside a ceviche of wild Atlantic sea bass with chilli, coconut and lime, and a fillet of salmon with a shiitake and vegetable broth. An afternoon menu includes triple decker sandwiches, burgers, croque monsieurs, salads and poshed-up hot toasties. Afternoon tea is available, too.
Keep an eye out for seasonal menus and special events. The 'bring your own ingredient' menu sounds fun - take some produce or food along with you and the chefs will create something bespoke, just for you.
