The latest street food operation to go down the pub residency route, Spit and Roast are at this Aldgate pub for at least the next four months (Thur-Sun). Sticking with the food van feel, dishes include crunchy-coated, buttermilk-fried chicken; soft baps filled with slices of tender pork belly with tart, own-made apple sauce; and earthy pulled oxtail on crisp toast. These are served at communal benches in takeaway containers. On Sundays there’s a spit roast.
