Spagnoletti is a London ‘gastro-diner’ serving Italian artisan food, craft drinks and fine pasta dishes over two floors of vibrant eccentricity, inspired by the history of King’s Cross and Camden. There’s certainly a lot of character, from the space itself (they describe it as ‘retro-futuristic’, which sounds about right), through to the high-quality, passionate service. Everything’s made fresh, and you can see the chefs doing their thing in the open-plan kitchen that acts as a bit of a centrepiece.
The menu reads very well, too. Think charcoal sourdough with fancy Tonda Iblea olive oil, buratta served with caramelised figs, toasted hazelnuts and vincotto, rigatoni with 'nudja and cacio ricotta, and tortigliono with delice pumpkin, monkfish cheek and almonds.
It’s also worth checking out the bar, too. The Spagnoletti Spritz is good (gin, Fiorente, Red Rinomato, grapefruit and soda), and the Frangelico Old Fashioned (Frangelico, whisky, Vecchia Romagna and hazelnut) sounds definitely worth a try.
