Holed up within grandiose George & Vulture boozer in Hoxton (famous as the ‘tallest pub
in London’), this branch of the Sodo mini chain is all about pizza. Their standard
margheritas, for example, are textbook with a thin, crisp Neapolitan-style sourdough
(‘sodo’) base fermented for at least 48 hours and locally sourced toppings. Also look out
for combos with names like ‘Jon Bon Chovy’ (tomato, mozzarella, anchovy, olives, capers,
chilli and parsley), ‘The Wicker Man’ and ‘Winter Goat’ (goat’s cheese, caramelised onion,
walnuts, olives etc). Gluten-free options come on a base fashioned from butterbeans, and
it’s also worth checking the blackboard for daily specials.
