Following a successful three-year run as Shish Mangal, this kebab joint right next to Kensal Rise station has been extended with more restaurant seating and a separate bar for beers and wines – hence the new name (a conflation of Shish and Liquor). Meze and BBQ grills are the main events, from cacik, baba ganoush and falafel wraps (a star turn, apparently) to chargrilled skewers, doners, shish combos and sharing platters – all served with salad and rice. ‘We don’t have a freezer on site’ claim the owners, who pride themselves on the freshness of their meat (bought in daily). The wine list is minimal, so it’s worth taking advantage of the BYOB offer (£5 corkage) – but note that this doesn’t apply to beers.
