Rustique Literary Cafe

There are very few places in London where you can sit, and sit, and sit, and no one will try and hurry you along or harass you to spend nearly £4 on yet another coffee you don’t really want, but Tufnell Park’s Rustique Literary Cafe is one. Here, you can sit for hours at a book-shaped table by a trickling fountain and listen to the sweet symphonies of Classic FM while you flick through a bit of Shakespeare or a Nigella Lawson autobiography you’ve pulled off the shelf. Offering milky lattes, jacket potatoes and other comforting fare on a menu that’s unchanged since it first opened in 2000, it’s an unpretentious sort of place, and a welcome antidote to the one-hour reservations and QR code menus that we’ve grown used these days.
