Very much part of the local community and just off Greenwich’s touristy main drag, this homely café keeps things veggie (apart from the odd bit of smoked salmon here and there). Immensely charming staff are on hand to pamper the crowds who regularly pack the two cosy rooms, while the menu is full of genuinely homemade stuff (with little portions for the kiddies). American-style brekkies, Belgian waffles and things on toast kick-start the day, ahead of baguettes, jacket potatoes, wraps, salads and – of course – plenty of gorgeous home-baked cakes (coffee and walnut, banana and butterscotch, chocolate and treacle etc). Also don’t miss their cream teas with scones or teacakes. Prices are very friendly too – no touristy rip-offs or London surcharges here.
