London' first Cretan inspired artisan restaurant! Book a table at Fitzrovia' newest opening now.
1905 is the first Cretan restaurant to open outside of Greece. Named 1905 after the date of
Crete’s historic revolution, its aim is to capture the unparalleled Cretan spirit and share it
with all who enters its doors.
Proud and rebellious in nature, Cretans have held onto ancient traditions and cuisine,
leaving them unchanged for centuries. Their focus on family values, simplicity and nature
has attracted international recognition and their diet, rich in olive oil, is proven to be one of
the healthiest in the world.
To Cretans, good food shared with family and friends is a daily ritual and the key to a happy
life. We welcome you to join us at 1905 for local home-cooked dishes such as antikristo
goat, dakos salad and chestnut stifado.
After years of travelling through Crete and learning from locals, we, the owners of 1905
decided it was time to share our passion and export our expertise, not just in food but wine
too – specifically natural wine. Crete has one of the world’s oldest wine cultures. The unique
and ancient terroir is producing some of the best natural, organic and biodynamic wines
that exist and they are here at 1905, waiting for you to sample them.
Remember, a Cretan holiday is not just for Summer. At 1905 it’s all-year-round.
