Located directly opposite London Olympia, this welcoming and relaxed neighbourhood spot serves up traditional Indian and Pakistani specialities with a contemporary twist and backs up its foodie offer with no-corkage BYOB. Classic kormas, dhansaks, tandooris and biryanis line-up alongside on-the-bone pot-roasted ‘deigi’ specialities, karahi dishes and chef’s specials such as haleem (slow-cooked lamb with lentils and wheat) or yoghurt-based chicken kabuli flavoured with ground almonds, malt vinegar and spices. Vegetarians also do well here, with plenty of appetisers and bigger dishes ranging from aloo tikki and chilli paneer to baby corn muttar with fenugreek and masala karela (bitter gourd). They also do an impressive section of breads including onion kulcha, tandoori roti and keema naan. If you’re going booze-free, stick to lassi.
