Much is made of DUKES’ heroic Martini bar, a sacred site where they deliver cocktails so sturdy and so potent that they’ll refuse to serve you any more than two, lest you pass out or cause some kind of international incident. Less famous is their in-house restaurant, which boldly goes under the name of the Great British Restaurant. Here you’ll find a menu which offers interchangeable starters and mains – have it in small portion to kick off your meal, and a bigger one to finish – of the likes of scorched Cornish mackerel with Yorkshire rhubarb and fennel sorbet; cured and roasted Lancashire belly of pork with spiced split green peas and neck of Cumbrian spring lamb. Expect to dine to a soundtrack of bossa nova-style covers of 1990s hits
