Please note, Galbi Bros has now closed. Time Out Food editors, FEBRUARY 2020.
When Moses and Hanbit met during the making of their own spoof version of K-pop video ‘Gangnam Style’, it was the start of a beautiful friendship. Before long they’d set their sights on a bigger prize than Psy’s latest hit: conquering London’s fancy fast food scene.
Swapping their office jobs for life on the streets, the Korean double-act started selling juicy K-burgers marinated in sweet and salty soy-based galbi sauce, encased in glazed brioche buns. Since 2013 the Galbi Brothers have been popping up at events across the capital, but pinning them down has just got a whole lot easier as they’re at Urban Food Fest on Saturdays until June 28 (5pm-11pm).
There are three versions of meat in a bun – juicy, marinated beef patties with salad and their tangy, signature ‘brother sauce’ (Galbi burger), sweet and spicy gochujang-marinated pork strips stacked high (Don burger), or both together with added cheese, plus hot and sour kimchi (Invincible Admiral Yi burger). The latter had us doing a Psy-style horsey jiggle for joy.
