A narrow, cosy, sunny space, Fresco is a cheery and simple option among the many varied possibilities along Westbourne Grove. You can grab meze, salads and sandwiches to go from the front counter (best accompanied by one of the 26 freshly squeezed juices – we liked no.18, a zinging carrot, lemon, honey and ginger combo). If you’re eating in at one of the handful of small tables, there’s a range of satisfying hot mains as well, such as moussaka or chicken escalope. Moujadara, a traditional Lebanese dish of lentils and bulgur topped with fried onions, was brought to life by cool, creamy yoghurt and a generous salad with the sweet crunch of pomegranate seeds. It’s all delivered with smiling, unfussy efficiency, making Fresco a more than safe bet.
