Please note, fish! kitchen has now closed. Time Out Food editors.
This fish!kitchen is a branch of the original posh fish-and-chip restaurant in Kingston, and is a cousin of the even posher fish! restaurant at Borough Market. We like this branch a lot, not least because it’s a bit unexpected in suburban East Sheen.
A modern, well-designed interior extends to a menu which goes far beyond the usual deep-fried fare; specials might include scallops wrapped in bacon (pictured above), plus there are other unexpected dishes such as whole grilled lobster.
The seafood is all responsibly sourced, and the basics are done beautifully: pert fish, crisp batter, firm and flavourful chips. It’s the freshness of the fish which really stands out though: fish!kitchen is owned by the same people behind Jarvis the Fishmonger, the Kingston-based, top-quality restaurant supplier.
If you have room for anything beyond a main course – portions are on the large side – there are also food desserts such as sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, and a well-considered drinks list with great wines and bottled beers.
