Brill is a cosy record shop-turned-café at Exmouth Market with great coffee, a counter loaded with cakes and a small food menu. It’s open all day, hosting gigs and serving alcohol in the evening, while bagels, cakes and coffee are available for breakfast and lunch. A pasteis de nata with a tangy raspberry on top was a delight. As was a moist brownie topped with an Oreo biscuit and a simple chocolate-chip cookie with bits of sour cherry.
Records line the walls, and there’s a nice garden with charmingly rusty outdoor tables and trees entwined with fairy lights. Staff are super friendly and will chat to you about anything. That’s the difference between this place and the other, more polished spots at Exmouth Market like Caravan and Grind: go back to Brill Café, and everyone will remember your name.
