Since this review was published, Boom Burger has undergone refurbishment. Time Out Eating & Drinking editors, March 2017.
There's a Caribbean influence at this burger spot on Portobello Road. The chap behind it, Josh de Lisser, was born in Jamaica and he's brought a slice of the Antilles to west London, courtesy of a food menu paying homage to Jamaica and a fair few boom vibes.
As the name suggests, there's a focus on burgers - think jerk chicken with fried plantain, rocket, mango and pawpaw sauce, or pan-fried red snapper with rocket, escovitch sauce and jerk mayo. Outside of the burgers there are sticky wings, plantain fries, salads and saltfish.
The drinks boast a Jamaican bent. That means cans of Red Stripe, rums with mixers and cocktails including pina coladas, rum punches and a 'so sorrel' - Boom Burger's signature cocktail of sorrel and rum.
