A traditional fish and chips restaurant and takeaway in Covent Garden, Ben's is owned by a couple of brothers - quite who Ben is, we're not sure. Looks are deceptive here, with a downstairs area and al fresco tables on Shaftesbury Avenue offering more seating than first looks the case.
The fish - cod, plaice, haddock and skate - is sourced from Billingsgate Market each morning, and the chips are made from hand-cut potatoes. Burgers, pies and pastries are available, too. And if you really want to go for it? There are starters of houmous, taramasalata and freshly mixed salads.
Ben's also boasts an alcohol license, so diners can enjoy a beer or wine with their meal. Soft drinks are on offer too - including Ribena and Lucozade, of all things.
