Other dishes might compete for this important honour, but everyone knows that really and truly, the very best food for a night on the couch, in front of the TV, is a hot, cheesy pizza, fresh from the oven.

As everyone also knows, however, not all pizzas are created equal – and the only supermarket brand that can claim to actually give a proper taste of modern Italy is Crosta Mollica.

These pizzas are made in Italy, and with slow-proved dough and authentic topping combinations, you won’t find a Hawaiian, any sweetcorn, or a chicken tikka pizza in their range – this is pizza non per tutti, or “not for everyone”. It’s serious Italian stuff: wood-fired, Neapolitan style, sourdough pizza, to be enjoyed in your living room, for nights where you don’t feel like a compromise.

So if it’s premium Italian food you’re after, Crosta Mollica’s quality ingredients, vibrant flavours, and irresistibly soft dough offer just that, all in the comfort of your own home – without the airfare. Here are four of our favourites and the shows we think they go perfectly with for a seriously grand Italian night in. We’re like sommeliers, but for telly.

Margherita

History time: Did you know that Margherita pizza – luscious mozzarella on a lively base of tomato – was named after the Queen of Italy, Margherita of Savoy, at the end of the 19th Century? Well, Queen Margherita’s legacy has certainly endured: her pizza is the most loved of all. You might even call it the 'Queen of Pizzas'. To match this regal energy, enjoy a Mollica Marg with a night of Bridgerton. For the full effect, get your handmaids – we mean housemates, sorry – to bring it to you hot from the oven as you luxuriate on your chaise, also known as the sofa.

Pizza Base

If you’re the creative type, why not make dinner into an opportunity for some artwork? Just grab a sourdough Crosta Mollica Pizza Base from the supermarket pizza aisle, and let that be the canvas for your genius. Splatter on some Stracciatella, Jackson Pollock-style, or arrange a mushroom Mona Lisa: whatever takes your fancy. Pair your masterpiece with a few instalments of Interior Design Masters or The Great British Sewing Bee, and you’ve got the arty, crafty evening of your dreams spooling out in front of you.

Stromboli

Just like the volcano it’s named after, the Stromboli pizza is brimming with heat, thanks to quality ingredients like salame piccante and chilli rosso, balanced out, of course, by cooling mozzarella. To get yourself into the bright, energetic mindset of the volcano’s idyllic location off the coast of Sicily, maybe it’s time for a White Lotus season two rewatch (given season three has just wrapped up)? We know your flat probably isn’t quite a luxury hotel designed in the imaginative mind of Mike White, but a slice or three of spicy, sensual, sourdough Stromboli might get you at least part of the way to authentic Sicilian bliss.

Fiorentina

The white base Fiorentina pick is an absolutely perfect choice if you’re a lover of pasta dishes like carbonara or cacio e pepe, with its creamy white base and spinach and mushroom toppings. Once you’ve popped it in the oven to do its thing, why not flick on a classic episode Buffy the Vampire Slayer? Thankfully, you’ll be well protected from any rogue vampiric activity by the Fiorentina’s subtle addition of garlic, so you can simply enjoy the action in peace.
