Just an amble from the Thames, this Chiswick evergreen is big on quirkiness and romance, with its vintage rococo interiors, floral bouquets, flickering candles, twinkling fairy lights and flying cherubs on ornately framed mirrors. Families drop by early doors for its breakfast and brunch menu (anything from shakshuka and smoked salmon bagels to sausage sarnies and fry-ups), while the all-day menu brings globetrotting brasserie-style options such as crab and avocado salad, paella, sticky pork belly with Vietnamese salad or sirloin steak with chips and béarnaise. House specials add even more variety, and desserts hit the comfort button for sticky toffee pud or blackberry and apple crumble. Cocktails and fairly priced wines (including plenty by the glass) go well with bar nibbles – especially during ‘happy hour’ (5-7pm, Mon-Fri).
