In its third concert as an Artistic Partner of Southbank Centre’s The Rest Is Noise festival, the BBC CO offers a programme including William Grant Still’s ‘Afro-American’ symphony which combines orchestral tradition with the blues and Duke Ellington’s A Tone Parallel to Harlem which appeared on one of the first LP records pioneered by Columbia. The Nu Civilisation Orchestra performs its own tribute to the Duke of Jazz.
