Professor Simon Keefe (Department of Music, University of Sheffield) and Professor Cliff Eisen (Department of Music, King's College London) host a study day examining Mozart's life in Salzburg, in Vienna and on his travels across Europe and discusses portraits of him, including a newly-discovered Viennese painting from the early 1780s. We discuss musical life in Salzburg and Vienna and Mozart's place in both musical environments; Mozart's travels across Europe; musical influences on Mozart; and late eighteenth-century/early nineteenth-century iconography as relating to portraits of the composer.
