On St Cecilia's Day, the choir Stile Antico presents a programme to mark the 400th anniversary of Tomás Luis de Victoria's death in 1611. Movements from four of his most celebrated settings are given side-by-side with their parent works – motets by Morales, Guerrero and Palestrina and an energetic chanson by Janequin. Framing these are some of Victoriaás finest motets. Victoria's 'O Quam gloriosam'; Morales's 'Jubilate Deo'; Victoria's 'Missa Gaudeamus (Kyrie and Gloria); Janequin's 'La guerre'; Victoria's 'Missa Pro Victoria' (Credo; Ascendens Christus; O magnum mysterium); Palestrina's 'Surge Propera'; Victoria's 'Missa Surge Propera' (Sanctus and Benedictus); Guerrero's 'Simile Est Regnum'; Victoria's 'Missa Simile Est Regnum' (Agnus Dei and Laetatus Sum).
