Best known as guitarist with The National, Bryce Dessner is also an increasingly influential composer. Here the Kronos Quartet give the world premiere of his new string quartet before his other band Clogs play a set of their own. Bryce Dessner's 'Tenebre' (Kronos Quartet (world premiere - Barbican co-commission); Scott Johnson's 'It Raged' (from 'How it Happens' – The Voice of I F Stone) – Kronos Quartet; Michael Gordon's 'Clouded Yellow' (UK premiere) Kronos Quartet; Steve Reich's 'Electric Counterpoint' (Derek Johnson); and David Lang's 'The so-called laws of nature' (So Percussion). Formed in Singapore in 2008, Jetsam create and perform original and commissioned works and contemporary repertoire. With backgrounds in classical music, dance/electronic music, and song writing, the band's unique sound seeks to blend these influences with their shared experiences from around the world. Then, at 5pm, an ensemble made up of performers from Bang On a Can, Jetsam, and Guildhall School Musicians perform Brian Eno's seminal piece 'Music For Airports'.
