The pianists Penelope Thwaites and John Lavender mirror Percy Grainger's travels as a solo pianist, collector of folk-music and composer to northern Europe (he was Grieg's favourite pianist), Britain and finally to the USA. This programme entirely made up of pieces for four hands and two pianos, includes five original Grainger pieces and arrangements of works by his contemporaries Grieg and Delius. 'Arrival Platform Humlet' from 'In a Nutshell'; 'The Lonely Desert-Man Sees the Tents of the Happy Tribes'; 'Blithe Bells'; 'Hill-Song II'; 'Lincolnshire Posy'; 'Spoon River'; Grieg's (arr Grainger) 'Knut Lurasen's Halling II'; Delius's (arr Grainger) Dance Rhapsody No 1; and Gershwin's (arr Grainger) 'Fantasy on Themes' from 'Porgy and Bess'.
