Music to Die For

As part of the Southbank festival, a concert presenting a lively mix of notes with highs and lows from composers addressing the subject of death. BBC Concert Orchestra under Keith Lockhart and Hertfordshire Chorus directed by David Temple, with Ilona Domnich (soprano) and John Hannah (narrator). Saint-Saëns's 'Danse macabre'; Mozart's 'Confutatis maledictis', and 'Lacrymosa dies illa' from Requiem; Mahler's 'Der Abschied' ('The Farewell') from 'Das Lied von der Erde'; Purcell's March from 'Funeral Music for Queen Mary'; Tavener's 'Song for Athene'; Barber's Adagio for Strings; Fauré's 'In Paradisum' from Requiem; and Verdi's 'Libera me' from Requiem.
