Focus Opera makes its debut at Chiswick House Opera with a new production set just outside Seville in the 1950s. Bizet's popular and colourful work is full of well-known tunes and tells the story of a doomed love affair between a young feisty gypsy girl and naive police officer, Don José. When a handsome torreador called Escamillio arrives on the scene, things can only end badly. Benjamin Elin conducts the Focus Opera Chamber Orchestra. (Sung in English by a young international cast.)
(Note: gates open at 6pm, allowing time for picnics on the lawns before the show starts at 7.30pm.)
