Violin sonatas by the Bohemian composer Heinrich Biber, one of the most original composers of the seventeenth century and the greatest virtuoso of his day. The basso continuo is played on the theorbo. Plus, dramatic tocattas written for the lute-like instrument by Kapsberger and Piccinini. Played by the Amphion Consort (Jennifer Bennett, baroque violin/viola d'amore/viol da gamba, and Yair Avidor, theorbo/lute/baroque guitar).
