The pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja takes her turn in LSO St Luke's sonata cycle, playing Beethoven's Piano Sonata No 20 in G, Op 49 No 2; Piano Sonata No 30 in E, Op 109; and Piano Sonata No 32 in C minor Op 111. (Note: together with Op 49 No 1, No 2 forms the second of Beethoven's Leichte Sonaten. Op 109 sees his writing at its most intensely personal and introspective. His final piano sonata, Op 111, is composed of entirely contrasting moods and structures which come together to create what Beethoven felt to be a true unity of form.)
