For the first in its 2013 New Moves series, the Aurora orchestra under Nicholas Collon collaborates with tenor Allan Clayton to produce a theatrical concert built around Britten’s 'Nocturne'. The programme charts a course through the darkness of a troubled night, with other repertoire including Vivaldi’s La Notte (‘The Night’) and James MacMillan’s 'Deep but Dazzling Darkness' with solo violinist Thomas Gould, commissioned for the opening of LSO St Luke's in 2003. The programme also includes Ivor Gurney's (arr Iain Farrington) 'Sleep'; Lennon & McCartney's 'Blackbird'; and Ligeti's Poème symphonique for 100 metronomes. With design and lighting from William Reynolds.
