When you finally get into that time machine turn the dial to 1977 – the year hip hop emerged on New York corners. Until those machines are available on the high street, head down to Brixton for the latest pop up where, for four days of the week, Big Apple Brixton will be throwing a day and night block parties. Sure, it won't have the electricity of a makeshift Harlem dancehall but there will be food vendors, disco yoga classes, hip hop exercise classes and three themed rooms based on iconic NYC venues where resident DJs will pump out hip hop, disco and house. We hear there's also private themed rooms for hire decked out as 70s barbershop, record shop, Latino church and peep show.
