Did you manage to nab tickets to London’s 2024 New Year’s Eve display on the Thames? No? Not to worry.
The thing about fireworks – and especially a fireworks display as big as London’s official NYE one – is that they’re up in the air and visible for miles around. In other words, there are plenty of other places to view the big NYE display than within the confines of the Mayor of London’s official event.
If you already have a ticket, you already know where to go – you’ll have a colour-coded zone and everything – but if you don’t, here are your options.

Best places to watch New Year’s Eve Fireworks for free
Our main advice? If you haven’t got a ticket or anywhere specific to go to, don’t go down to the South Bank hoping to get a glimpse of the fireworks. But there are alternatives:
Bridges
Vauxhall Bridge and Southwark Bridge will be open and have some sort of view of the fireworks, even if neither are example prime viewing spots. (Westminster Bridge, the Golden Jubilee Footbridge and Waterloo Bridge will be closed, while Tower Bridge won’t offer much of a view).
Viewpoints
Head to high ground for a good view not just of festivities on the South Bank but also fireworks popping off all over London. In increasing distance from the centre of town, you’ve got Parliament Hill/Hampstead Heath, Primrose Hill, Hilly Fields and Alexandra Palace.
