If you’ve ever looked up at Oxford Street’s Christmas display and been a little underwhelmed by the sheer proximity of it all, then wrap your eyes around The Shard’s annual festive lights.

Adorning the top of the 73-storey building, they’re London’s tallest Christmas twinklers by a mile (or a few dozen yards at least) and they’ll be sending out glowing beams across the city every hour throughout the festive season.

Of course, these bad boys can’t get up there themselves, and every year a dedicated team of vertigo-proof volunteers are tasked with installing the 20-storey show, which comprises 344 dazzling bulbs. Watch our video to see how it’s done.
