Video: It’s British Pie Week! Meet the pie king with his own ‘pie room’

This week (Monday March 5-Friday March 9) is British Pie Week. To celebrate, we visited Holborn Dining Room, an opulent restaurant with its very own Pie Room. Spearheaded by executive chef Calum Franklin, the Pie Room is a pie kitchen by day and a private dining room by night, serving handmade pies inspired by things Calum glimpses around the city, like the roof of a church or the pattern of a car wheel. Yep, a car wheel.

Pie flavours include steamed beef cheek and kidney, hand-raised pork shoulder, and curried mutton. Check out the video below to see just how extraordinary they really are. 

British Pie Week runs from Monday March 5 until Friday March 9 but you can eat pies all year round at Holborn Dining Room, 252 High Holborn, WC1V 7EN.
