Fans of caffeinated beverages and Santa, your time is now, for the return of the Coca Cola Christmas bus – now as much of a seasonal tradition as leaving a mince pie and a cup of brandy out for Big Daddy Xmas – is happening.
After taking a year off due to coronavirus and the elves which run such an operation being deep in lockdown, the big red bus will be returning, if Coca Cola's cryptic social media announcements are anything to go by, telling fans 'it shouldn't be long now' until its tour dates are revealed. Apparently they're just 'recruiting the last of our reindeer' before plans can be shared.
It was December 2019 that the truck last rolled into the capital to dish out free mini bottles of Coca‑Cola zero sugar and also offer folk the chance to buy some natty 250ml glass bottles of Coca‑Cola personalised with their name. Or someone else’s if they didn't like theirs that much. Maybe Enid. Or Geoffrey. Elijah? Baz?
As well as bringing that festive cheer, in 2019 the truck raised funds for Crisis, with Coca Cola donating 10p to the homelessness charity in exchange for every can placed in their recycling bins throughout the tour. Let's hope the truck is just as generous this year. After visiting branches of Asda and Sainsbury's across London, last time the bus ended up hosting a big finale at the O2 Arena. Truly, this is the Adele of branded vehicles. More info as we have it.
Here are some Xmas markets in London that we reckon you'll enjoy a fair bit.
