Thought birdwatching was just for the countryside? Think again. It’s not all pigeons, parakeets and grim, side-eyeing crows out there – in fact, 349 different bird species have been spotted within 20 miles of St Paul’s. With spring almost here, we asked Mike Unwin – leading ornithologist and author of ‘City Birds: An Urban Birdwatching Logbook’ – about London’s feathered friends and where to spot them. From black redstarts to peregrine falcons, the city is a veritable twitcher’s paradise. All you need to do is prise your eyes off Twitter.
