There are more than 20,000 primary schools in the UK. Just over 16,700 of those are in England. So to be named the top performing primary school in the whole of England is kind of a huge deal. And if you’re a parent of a kid at that school, you’ve won some serious bragging rights.
Every year, the Sunday Times releases its Parent Power league table, pitting England’s grammar, private, comprehensive and primary schools against each other to see who comes out on top. To create the ranking of primary schools, it looked at the percentage of students who who achieved their expected grade in the 2023 SATs tests in English, grammar, and maths.
As it turns out, London is home to some of the finest teaching and smartest kids in the country. After crunching the data, the Times named Hampden Gurney Church of England Primary School the best primary school in England.
Three other London institutes made it onto the top 10 list for the whole of the UK – you can find out which ones here. And you can read more about the top primary schools in the capital according to the Sunday Times here.
