Ever wanted to try fish ’n’ chips in a taco? Nope? Well, in all truth, us neither. In fact, we hadn’t really thought of the possibility of such a whacky combo until it was revealed on the menu of a hit US taco joint which is coming over to the UK for the first time next year.

The chain in question is Velvet Taco, and it’ll launch its first ever location outside the US in London in spring 2025. As well as fish and chips tacos, Velvet Taco will be dishing up 20 other taco flavours – including apparent fan-favourite ‘spicy tikka chicken’.

Velvet Taco’s first UK restaurant will open slap-bang in the middle of central London in Piccadilly Circus. Alongside the chain’s internationally inspired tacos, the menu will have a bunch of other tasty offerings including ‘kick-ass frozen margaritas’ and the ‘red velvet cake’ that gave Velvet Taco its name.

Velvet Taco says it is all about showcasing flavours from across the world, providing punters with mind-bending combinations and a menu of over 20 different imaginative tacos, plus a host of sides. The brand says the London restaurant will be the first of many international outposts, though those locations haven’t yet been confirmed. Watch this space for updates.
