AirlineRatings.com is  a website which very much does what it says on the tin. Analysing, rating and then ranking the world’s air carriers, the site judges airlines based on everything from customer service to fleet age.

AirlineRatings.com recently revealed its best airlines in the world – and, impressively, UK airlines made an impressive showing. British carriers featured across the site’s various lists, from budget to non-budget and everything in-between.

To be considered for AirlineRatings.com’s ‘full service’ list, airlines have to offer meals, snacks and beverages, no matter how long the flight. The pitch of economy seats must boast at least 31 inches, while business class must provide lie-flat beds. They also must have a solid safety rating, a modern fleet and a ‘strong financial standing’.

In the 2025 edition of AirlineRatings.com’s annual list, ‘airline of the year’ went to Korean Air thanks to its ‘passenger comfort’ and ‘thoughtful touches’ – but a British airline wasn’t far behind. Virgin Atlantic also placed in the top 25, coming 13th.

And that isn’t all. In the ‘hybrid’ airlines section (meaning a carrier offers contains a range of both ‘low cost’ and ‘full service’ options) British Airways got a mention in 15th place. In the ‘low-cost’ airlines list, meanwhile, easyJet placed fifth and Jet2 at number 18.

You can find AirlineRatings.com’s lists of the top ‘full service’, ‘hybrid’ and ‘low-cost’ carriers in 2025 here.

In another AirlingRatings.com ranking, did you see that two British carriers have been named the safest in the world?
