You might have noticed that it’s been quite warm in London lately. And after much speculation that a ‘mini-heatwave’ could be on the cards for the capital, the weather gurus at the Met Office have given their assurance that a balmy stretch of sunny weather is imminent.
After a very pleasant weekend of blue skies (much to the delight of those taking part in the London Naked Bike Ride, no doubt), things will be getting even toastier for us London folk.
According to the Met Office, a wave of heat currently building across Spain is pushing into France and by the middle of next week should, rather ominously, start to ‘influence the UK’, leaving London basking in temperatures in the high 20Cs and low 30Cs. It’s predicting a high of 32C on Friday, making the Big Smoke hotter (and smokier) than Lisbon, Miami and Hong Kong.
But before you start planning the inevitable barbecue, the weather dons have also said there is some ‘instability’ at the north of this Continental weather front which could have the potential for thunderstorms.
As ever, the Great British early summer weather is as mixed as a family-sized bag of Revels. So bask in that sweet simple freedom of being able to go outdoors without a jacket, but if it does start chucking it down, there’s also a new service where you can rent an umbrella.
