The sun is out and summer is finally on its way, and how better for London’s film fans to celebrate than by catching a brilliant movie in the great outdoors on the top deck of a boat on the Thames?

Time Out’s very own Movies on the River is returning to the Thames for the third year running starting in early June. From Tuesday to Saturday each week from June 4 until August, our movie boat will screen a different film each evening, with the movies on offer including ‘A Star Is Born’, ‘Grease’, ‘The Favourite’ and ‘Black Panther’.

Londoners love outdoor screenings – and you don’t get more unique than Movies on the River, where you can see 'The Greatest Showman' or 'Bohemian Rhapsody' while taking in the splendour of London in summer right from the middle of the river.

Before the screening starts, film-goers at Movies on the River enjoy a leisurely cruise through the heart of London – before the dock boats up in the Thames and a film is projected on a big screen on the open-air deck of the boat. There are two bars on board too, so you won’t be short of drinks or snacks before or during the movie.

Everyone on board gets a blanket to snuggle in just in case the temperature drops a little, and everyone also has a pair of silent-disco-style headphones – so you’ll be able to hear the film perfectly, without any distraction from the noise of the city.

All you now have to do is choose which movie to see, and you’ll be ready to come and join us all aboard Movies on the River. Ahoy there!

Explore all the great movies playing at Movies on the River five nights a week from June 4 until August – and buy tickets here.
