Maisie Williams is currently making her stage debut in new comedy ‘I and You’ at Hampstead Theatre. And since she’s better known as Arya Stark in ‘Game of Thrones’, getting your mitts on a ticket is harder than surviving a Westeros winter. But luckily technology is coming to the rescue: the full production of ‘I and You’ will be screened on Instagram’s IGTV, on demand for 72 hours from 6pm on Friday November 30 to 6pm on Monday December 3.
This might actually be the first time a London play has been shown on Instagram, and presumably Hampstead Theatre is hoping to woo a millennial audience with a free dose of drama to rival Netflix. Written by American playwright Lauren Gunderson, ‘I and You’ stars Maisie Williams as an American teenager with a life-threatening illness. She’s not allowed to go out, so she keeps up on schoolwork with awkward poetry nerd Anthony (played by Zach Wyatt, who’s also making his stage debut). And the two quickly hit it off, in a comedy that’s got a gentle charm that’s worlds away from George RR Martin’s bloody epic. ‘I and You’ runs for 1 hour 25 minutes, and will be shown in a special version that’s designed to be viewed on your teeny-tiny phone screen.
