The people of Reddit have got a lot of opinions, from the world’s best-tasting tap water, to the most over-touristed places in the UK. Now, users of the platform have nominated their picks for the buildings in Britain that everyone should see at least once.

In a thread posted on r/CasualUK, Redditors are debating which pieces of UK architecture should be on our bucket lists. From vast gothic cathedrals like Lincoln and Salisbury, to more modern marvels like the Eden Project, Britain has some absolute crackers to choose from when it comes to great architecture. But which London locations made the list?

Taking the number one spot in the thread was St Paul’s Cathedral, being the most voted-for piece of British architecture to see before you die. The Christoper Wren masterpiece was completed in 1708 after its gothic predecessor burnt down in the Great Fire of London. And thank goodness it’s still standing, because now Reddit has voted it one of the most beautiful sights in the country.

Coming in a close second was the Natural History Museum, a banging piece of Romanesque architecture that opened in Kensington in 1881. ‘The stuff inside is interesting enough but the building is incredible. A cathedral of science,’ wrote the post, which received 2.9 thousand upvotes.

The ‘stunning’ neo-gothic St Pancras Renaissance Hotel and St Pancras Station were also mentioned, alongside landmarks including Hampton Court Palace, Westminster Abbey and the Sir John Soane’s Museum, which was described as ‘absolutely mind blowing’.

Other London buildings shouted out in the thread were the Tower of London, the Barbican Centre, Borough Market, Regent Street and even the skyscrapers of Canary Wharf

Some of the less serious suggestions included HMP Wandsworth, Greggs and er... Big Tesco, but each to their own, we suppose. Read more about which UK-wide destinations were included in the list here.
