Here’s the thing: much of London’s transport network is old, and to keep it all running smoothly, unfortunately things have to close every once in a while. We’ve already got all your information for Christmas tube closures, and all the disruptions happening this weekend (Dec 13-15). But there are going to be more changes on the way. The DLR will partially close for 10 days this December, here’s what you need to know.
The stretch of DLR between Shadwell and Bank will be closed from Saturday, December 21 until Monday, December 30 for track work. TfL has handily scheduled this for a time when lots of Londoners are going to be out of the city for the Christmas break, but it’s still going to affect a lot of people.
From Saturday, December 21 to Monday, December 23 there will also be closures from Prince Regent to Beckton on the line as TfL will be testing the new DLR trains.
Londoners are still eagerly awaiting the new trains, with air-conditioning and USB charging points, which were due to come into service by the end of this year. However, the new DLR fleet has been indefinitely delayed due to signalling problems and issues with the trains going too fast.
PSA: London tube fares will go up in 2025, Sadiq Khan confirms.
Plus Kentish Town tube station finally has a reopening date.
