Lovers of pubs and/or parks (and, TBH, that covers most Londoners), listen up. A new development in the City of London has just opened, and it features both a new public ‘pocket park’ and a revamped boozer.

The development is at 100 Fetter Lane, and it’s primarily an office building. Called Edenica, the 12-storey, 9,000-square-foot block is apparently net-zero and built with technology that means 80 percent of its materials can be reused.

The outside features a striking red façade, and it was designed Fletcher Priest Architects – the firm also behind plans for a tower in the City at 63 St Mary Axe. The office tenants will begin occupying the site in June.

Anyway, back to parks and pubs. The Edenica development has also seen the restoration of local pub the White Swan. Well, ‘restore’ might not be quite the right word – the pub has been entirely rebuilt. It’s pretty much unrecognisable from what it used to look like, now with shiny blue tiles on the outside.

Back in December 2023, the White Swan was one of several pubs earmarked by the City for to open over the next few years. It’s set to open this summer, and here’s what the pub now looks like.

But that isn’t all. 100 Fetter Lane is also now home to a ‘sheltered and ‘tranquil new pocket park’ with shrubbery, benches and a café. This new public space is already open and ready for lunch-breaks.
