A follow-up to the cocktail and coffee spot that Soho made famous, Termini Centrale has more of a focus on food and al fresco drinks. 

Top tip: don’t miss the bar’s great take on a classic spritz.

A blingy coin-topped bar, a menu of calvados-based cocktails and a hip Bethnal Green location.

Top tip: the champagne piña colada was the drink of the year. Don't miss it. 

Kaleidoscope

Discover a full spectrum of whisky at this Liverpool Street basement bar where rare drams are often available to sample at special discount prices. 

Top tip: tell the bar staff what you’re into and let them work genuine magic. 

Little Nan’s Broadway Theatre Saloon

Party like Pat Butcher at this Catford branch of Little Nan’s Bar, where cocktails come with kitsch umbrellas and good times are practically guaranteed. 

Top tip: for a total hoot, book in for boozy bottomless brunch or afternoon tea with tipples.  

Mother Kelly’s

The team behind Bethnal Green’s Mother Kelly’s beer bar (and various bottle shops around town) has expanded on a winning formula for craft beer fanatics. 

Top tip: visit in the summer to make the most of the picnic benches at the entrance to this railway arch bar. 

Nelsons Head

Revamped for 2017, this pub perfectly blends old-manish decor with a fresh and young east London attitude. 

Top tip: find the secretive rum bar in the basement and make a proper night of it.

Nine Lives

A tropical-chic basement bar with low-ABV cocktails and a slick sound system inherited from Cable nightclub. 

Top tip: kick off party time with a game of shuffleboard. 

Nuala Bar

It’s brand new and shiny with a loose Irish theme, glasses of punch and Guinness poured with serious care. Craic on with your visit to Nuala 

Top tip: whisky cocktails are equally good – the Manhattan Serve is a seriously swoony drink.  

Prince of Peckham

A new Peckham pub with a lived-in feel and a lively roster of music, yoga and open mic nights.

Top tip: jerk. White Men Can’t Jerk provide banging bar snacks from the kitchen.

Another big-hitter of a bar from cocktail scene superhero Mr Lyan.

Top tip: order the Baha Colada cocktail with a side of home-made ricotta for snacking – the drink uses leftover whey from the cheese-making as an ingredient. Mind blown.

Sustainability is at the core of this cool Shoreditch bar, where a Scandi look and veg-infused tipples rule.   

Top tip: try the ‘ferments’, a range of fizzy alcoholic drinks fermented in the science lab downstairs. 

The Red Lion

One of the best pizzeria’s in the capital has expanded into the pub next door to carry on the tip-top tipples but with the added bonus of crazy-good Italian food. 

Top tip: order one of their Italian subs if you’re after slightly lighter pub grub than pizza. 

The Tankard

The Draft House chain takes over an historic pub on Kennington Road, giving it a new lease of life – including a spruced-up drinking terrace up top. 

Top tip: check out the cheese and beer pairing menu.

A bar from famed mixologist Tony Conigliaro that’s modelled on Andy Warhol’s Factory, with cocktails that can be considered as modern masterpieces. 

Top tip: order the Ninfeo, a drink delivered in a fanny-shaped receptacle.
