Is there anything a spontaneous weekend away won’t solve? Probably. But they make for very enjoyable temporary solutions. As it happens, January is the cheapest month for flights to dozens of destinations from London. So, this is your sign beat the January blues and book a last-minute vacay.
Travel experts at hospitality company Accor have done some digging to find out exactly which destinations are the most affordable to travel to from London airports.
The cheapest place to fly to from London, based on average prices across all London airports, is Milan. Accor found that the lowest-priced return flights to the Italian city, which take just under two hours, was just £36.40 in January.
That’s the average lowest price across all London airports, so there’s a good chance you can find one cheaper. Time Out found return flights from London Stansted to Milan as low as £30.
The next bargain destination was Barcelona at an average lowest cost of £44.08 (in January), followed by Dublin at the same price (also in January).
Accor also found that the most affordable trip from London overall, when you take into account average flights, accommodation, daily travel and dining expenses, is Warsaw.
