[title]
Yesterday was the first day Londoners were allowed to eat and drink outside. That sentence fails to do justice to the enormity of the moment. For the first time since last year, citizens could (after a bit of forward-planning) sit down with their pals and a pint. The God-given right of every Londoner, surely.
The predictably chilly weather did absolutely nothing to deter thousands of people who flocked to central London after work. It was like an army descending on a besieged city, but instead of ransacking it they just wanted to socialise with each other a bit.
And socialise with each other they did! Months and months of boredom contributed to an almost religious level of exuberance and relief. Predictably, social media was awash with people joyfully sharing (or angrily tutting at) photos and videos of the pedestrianised bits of Soho absolutely heaving with fun-starved people. Have a gander, why don’t you?
