After weather forecasters ummed, ahhed and argued about whether it would actually snow in London last week, we did eventually get some of the chilly white stuff on Monday (January 8) – even if most of the city only saw a very, very light dusting.
But now it’s been predicted again that London might see some snow. While last week forecasters were a little surer about the capital than they are now, the Met Office has said that ‘disruptive’ and ‘impactful’ snow could strike the UK – and that London could also potentially get some.
Already this week temperatures plummeted below freezing, with the mercury having fallen as low as -5C. Get yer long johns out, we say.
The snow, meanwhile, was predicted to come later in the week. While some reported than southern and central England could get between two and four centimetres of snow, London didn’t get snow yesterday (January 17), when much of the rest of the UK received a dollop of the white stuff.
Last Thursday (January 11) evening, the Met Office said snow would be most disruptive in Scotland and Northern Ireland, but that there is ‘the potential for some substantial snow elsewhere’. A snow weather warning remains in place for parts of the country until Saturday, January 20.
