River Stage Festival Weekend: The Glory

The folks from Haggerston-based drag venue The Glory are heading to the riverside this weekend, hosting three jam-packed days at the National Theatre’s River  Stage Festival. Whether you fancy watching London’s fiercest queens do their thing on the mic at Lipsync1000, trying your hand at drag life-drawing or just dancing to queer anthems, it’s set to be a weekend-long party. The National Theatre. Tube: Waterloo. Fri Jul 13-Sun Jul

U Suck: ‘Love Island’ special

‘Love Island’ fever has swept the city, which is why club night U Suck is bringing a bit of Majorca to Dalston. An ode to break-ups, and singledom, expect plenty of pop hits – and hey, you might just meet someone who’s your type on paper. Birthdays. Dalston Kingsland Overground. Sat Jul 14.

Free croissants

It’s Bastille Day this Saturday and Paul’s bakery is giving away free croissants across all of its London branches to celebrate. To redeem your pastry treat, don your best Breton-striped T-shirt (and a beret if you’re feeling fancy), and say ‘bonjour Paul’ at the till. C’est bon! All branches. Sat Jul 14.

‘Julius Caesar’

Don’t fancy sitting in a hot theatre on a balmy evening? The National Theatre is screening live performances in Wembley Park’s Arena Square, so you can catch Shakespearian masterpiece ‘Julius Caesar’ in the fresh air while kicking back in a deckchair. Wembley Park. Tube: Wembley Park. Fri Jul 13, 7.30pm.

Voga class

Forget doing the downward dog – it’s all about voga, a fun hybrid that combines voguing and yoga. Try it for free at the Summer by the River festival. There’s no special gear required, just turn up and strike a pose – as Madge said, there’s nothing to it.  The Scoop. Tube: London Bridge. Mon Jul 16, 6.30pm.

Glitter pizza

Say cheese! Pizza peddlers Firezza are giving away 200 slices at East Village’s Summer Fête. This is not your average cheese and tomato creation, though – you’ll be given edible glitter and stencils to glam up your slice however you fancy. East Village.Tube: Stratford. Sat Jul 14, 11am-4pm.
